FG is 10 next year

Baltimore’s leading spiriutal soul band, the almighty Fertile Ground will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2007. So next year they will commemorate this special occasion with a new album, a Live Performance DVD and various solo projects. During winter, I always relisten some of their albums alongside some orange tea and godiva as they are the best soulfood around – especially at the end of the year! Happy anniversary to FG and thanks for the past ten years!

Most of all, she is working on her solo debut album coming out hopefully next year. Chek her myspace for more info and read about her in The Guardian.

mashi n bembe

Mark de Clive-Lowe and Bembe Segue are not only the most exciting duo in today’s bruk and soul world but their collab project The Politik is to be setting new standards for soul music next year. Their forthcoming album, mingling elements of jazz, soul and funk and twisting them with brukstep and hip hop beats, all touched by the magical voice of Bembe and many guest vocalists and MCs like Blu or Ta’Raach, will be 21 Century Soul in its every sense.

Out on Village Records JP in April ’07.
